Class #22 – Ash Box with Applique
The Mokok is a Northeast Woodland Native American style container made of bark stitched with roots. It is round at the top with a square bottom. Peel, prepare and sew with spruce roots. Make an inner and outer rim from red willow that you will bend and split. Try different stitching patterns. The appliqué is bark turned inside out. All materials are wild harvested by the teacher.
