Class #42 – Willow Keepsake Basket
In this class, experienced willow weavers will tackle the challenge of squarework in this small lidded basket! Using a screwblock, we begin with a rectangular base, add stakes using the “German stake-up” technique, and weave sharp corners around corner posts. Students will focus on shaping, keeping squarework square, and weaving a border around corners. A lid woven to size will finish off the project, along with a leather closure if desired. Students should be very familiar with the basic weaves of willow (waling, randing, woven borders) as learning these weaves will not be the focus of this class.
