Class #6 – Stanislav Asymmetrical Basket

Willow weavers of all experience levels will have fun making this interesting contemporary basket. Originally designed by Stanislav Dziubak, this basket form has been reworked, modified, and cherished by many weavers over the years. We begin with a reverse-paired round base, slype, and insert stakes, add in an upset 3-rod wale, build up height with a choice of “side weaves”, then create the asymmetric look by weaving the stakes on themselves. The last couple of stakes tie on a branch handle to finish. Beginning weavers get a challenging introduction to willow weaving; experienced weavers can experiment with fun side weaves or modified forms.
