Class #10 – Elm Bark and Black Ash Wall Basket

In this class, the teacher will be bringing harvested elm bark strips for you to learn how to clean, split, and cut weavers for your rectangular basket. Students will then weave a checker base for this wall basket using prepared inner elm bark spokes. The sides of your basket are your canvas for weaving with black ash, the elm bark you prepared, willow skein, and other natural gathered materials. The class will also include instruction in making an elm bark cordage handle and attaching bark rims.
